Clean and Simple Masked Scene – Penguin Palace Beautiful Africa

Hello and welcome back! Today I’m sharing another card I made for Penguin Palace’s Reveal & Inspiration Chapter, this time showcasing the new Beautiful Africa stamp set and dies! The images in this set are so adorable, and I knew I wanted to create a fun safari scene with them.

I started by cutting a circle from a piece of copy paper to act as a mask, and taped it down to my card panel. Next, I used the stamps to build my scene. I worked from “front” to “back” to create some perspective. I started by stamping the little plants at the very front, then cut masks for each (I just use Post-it notes) so I could stamp the snake. Then I masked him off to stamp the leaves “behind” him. Next, I stamped the safari girl and giraffe. I masked off the giraffe to stamp the pond and trees, added the clouds, and then it was time to color!

I colored the whole scene using my Copics and added some stippling under the images to try to create some dimension. I was also careful to try and keep my coloring within the masked circle as best I could!

I finished the front panel by stamping one of the sentiments in black ink, and then mounting it to a top-folding A2 card base. I hope you love this little scene as much as I do!

Don’t forget to visit the Penguin Palace blog this week (22 Mar to 27 Mar) for fun projects, prizes, and to pre-order (any purchase of 80CAD+ (~65USD+) will get a free gift)!
