Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing some fun distress ink rainbow
cards—with GLITTER! One way gives a more subtle shine, while the other is very glittery.

1) Glitter, glitter, glitter

For the first three cards, I started by cutting down a sheet of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper (I have an 11 x 17 pad) to make a few 4 ¼ x 5 ½ inch panels. I used Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tools and worked in a circle to blend the distress inks in rainbow order: Mermaid Lagoon, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, and Twisted Citron.

Next, I taped down the Altenew Leaf Burst Stencil over the rainbow panel using washi tape. Then I used a palette knife (you can also use an old gift card!) to spread Cosmic Shimmer glitter paste over the stencil; I used the color Frosty Dawn Sparkle.

At this point I used a strong liquid adhesive to glue my glittery rainbow panel to a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ inch white card base. I die cut two of the “awesome” die from the Avery Elle Sentimental Too die set so I could layer them on top of one another. Then I used Versamark ink and covered the stacked die with glittery white embossing powder and heat set it.

From the same stamp set, I stamped the “I think you’re” on black cardstock in Versamark ink and heat set it with white embossing powder. I die cut the sentiment using the smallest banner from the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Banners die set. Then I glued my sentiments onto the card and added a few Little Things from Lucy’s Cards jewels to finish it off!

I created three cards like this, but for one of them I used the Neat and Tangled Geometric Blooms Stencil instead of the Altenew Leaf Burst Stencil.

2) Subtle Shine

For the second set of cards, I started by cutting down a sheet of Canson XL Watercolor Paper (I have an 11 x 15 pad) to create a few 4 ¼ x 5 ½ inch panels. I used (the amazing) Laura Bassen’s “loosey goosey smackdown” technique to watercolor 3 panels. I used a round, size 12 Princeton brush and distress inks in the colors Mermaid Lagoon, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, and Twisted Citron. I also added some darker colored inks to some of the panels for a little more umph: Lucky Clover, Blueprint Sketch, Festive Berries, and Wilted Violet.

Once the panels were dry, I colored over them with a Faber Castell gelato in the shade Metallic Icing, and blended it in with my fingers. I cut the Neat and Tangled Polygon Cover Plate Die from each panel, and used Jennifer McGuire’s die cut inlay technique to adhere all the polygons to each card base.

Again, I used the Avery Elle Sentimental Too stamp and die set along with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Banners die to finish the card off with my sentiment.
